hmm..

i like how you have two exactly opposite oppinions of jury duty...

i dont think id like to do that very much...

podcasts are quite dandy..

my pastor has one, but, since i dont frequently travel, i dont really listen to them much.

but that is a good idea, though, so when i miss a sermon i can catch up....

johnny warning, you are a smart one!

At least you got called for Jury duty, I feel like Jury duty is a gift, a right of passage. A thorough acknowledgment of each individual state saying "Yes, we know who you are and we also care what you think about our less fortunate law breaking citizens, since we're all in this together. And we also acknowledge that you might, I donno, give a hoot about the community you live in and want to help out in this minor way in order to make a difference in this persons life as well your neighbors. So lets go...1, 2, 3, everyone... (the name of your state goes here)!

I was born and raised in Washington my whole life and never got called. My mom has gotten called just about every year though infact. Just painting a picture of how much this state seems to acknowledge my existence...then I moved to California for two years and got called the first year I was there! It was so awesome, It felt so good, like finally someone notices me. Leave it to liberal California to make you feel like a red blooded American state citizen only after one year. I think I've finally found my home.

nice.... Imagine if you had been picked and whomever you were to be sentencing was a fan of RK. THAT would be weird....
Sorry that's just how i think...
My grandma always hopes she gets picked for jury duty. I think she's in the minority.

Well since I'm away from home a lot I miss many of my pastor's sermons. Luckily they post them in Podcast form, and I subscribe. So I was listening to last week's, then an old Ricky Gervais podcast, because they rule.

Lucky!
I got called about two years ago. I wasn't one of the nine, but I was one of the 13 back-up jurors. I got out of it, but just barely.

I agree, it does sound like you have mixed feelings on jury duty but I would as well, it does seem like a fun process. But you get to be on tour instead and play amazing music which sounds 100 times more fun :]

It sounds like you have the same mixed feelings jury duty always gives me. I just can't figure out how they always manage to call me at the worst times. I did get called to the jury panel in a few interesting high profile cases, though. On one of them I stayed for the pretrial motions. That guy's goose was cooked. The judge allowed all of the evidence. LOL

If you have comittments that affect your finances (not your employer's - yours) OR
prepaid flight tickets, for instance, you will be excused anyway. I have never gone through Voir dire (pretrial questions) although they polled the whole jury panel on a murder case once, and I'm rather sure I would have been excused by one side or the other. Another time, I was two people from the box, and was excused before they got to me or I probably would have been able to do the questions. Funniest thing was my husband being called for jury duty for the day after we were moving to UT. Obviously he sent his regrets. LOL
